Morgan Porter Gives Argenti their first major victory

Final.

Porter holds the lead from pole under the Litchfield bridge for the first time, but he had Rhys Hunter for close company as the leading pair tried to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the field. Behind, engine problems for Cunnington would see him fall down the order pretty quickly.

At the front, Porter would loose the lead to Rhys Hunter, before falling into the clutches of his brother Kai in 3rd. Porter tried to cover the first corner but the pair made contact with ended Kai’s chance at the GP plate. Thanks to that, Hunter was now almost 2 seconds clear of Porter and King in 2nd and 3rd. The action would continue through the field as a 3 karts would end up spinning down the order at the 2nd hairpin.

Porter had the bit between his teeth. Porter dropped King pretty quickly, and started banging in fastest laps aboard his Argenti Motorsport machine, and was chewing up Hunter’s lead, halving it in just 2 laps. The race was then brought under a full course yellow after a big incident for Nathan Chafer which reduced Hunter’s lead to zero. Thankfully, Chafer was able to walk away from his upside down kart.

The race kicked back off with just over 5 minutes to go, and Porter was straight on the offensive, forcing Hunter to go defensive from the start. Hunter’s defending allowed Hunter’s team mate King to get through to 2nd. Porter then lost out to Pendlebury who set off after the leading DHR drivers.

Despite having his team mate behind him, Hunter was still defending at every opportunity. That allowed Pendlebury to send it on King, pushing him wide and allowing Porter to dart back up the inside to regain 2nd place. Hunter was still defending, slowing Porter up, giving Penldbury the shot at 2nd, and then for the lead heading off the bridge. Hunter ran wide and somehow, Porter clambered his way back through to the lead. Porter then set about trying to build a gap over James Lowether who was now into 2nd. It didn’t last long, as Pendlebury forced his way through on Lowether which allowed King back to 2nd.

All the fighting behind allowed Porter to clear off in the distance, taking the win by 8 tenths for Argenti Motorsport, giving them their first major win since their inception. Nelson King came home 2nd for DH with James Lowether completing the podium . After the race, King would be handed a 5 second nose cone penalty, which promoted Pendlebury onto the podium and drop King outside the top 12.
